Default Who runs a 347?

Okay i'm trying to get ideas on what kit to choose and how to build a 347 myself. I think I will be using my stock 128k 302 block and just clean it up and do all of the maitenence on it. Whats the best company that makes the best reliable stroker kits? Should I bother with building mine into this or should I just get a 351W or Cleveland? In the end I want to make 400-500 hp/trq and still be able to drive it around town if I wanted. So if any of you have built one of these engines, leave me some tips and advice on how to do it right and what parts are crucial to have. Also what your mods to yours are and how much power you are making. Thanks alot

Buddy of mine just got a short block from this guy
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/STROK...mZ190133275723
Then put a custom cam and Canfield head package from
www.camshaftinnovations.com on there for another $2,000

Call and talk to both companies before ordering to confirm compatability as far
as notched pistons and piston dish size for wanted compression level. 10.5 - 11 is good.

That combo with following parts will make 450-500 flywheel hp all day long and run like a champ on streets.

You will need upper end intake like Holley Sys II or Trickflow R or Edlebrk Vic 5.0
and 1 3/4 longtube headers.

Trans and clutch will need to be upgraded eventually too.

I got mine from Brian at AD Performance. Sells Scat kits for a reasonable price. Very helpful also.

Make sure you take the block to a machine shop to get the work done that way you know it is clearanced right.

I just got my stroker running so I haven't ran it hard yet. But I love it so far, idles great drives pretty well, I really need a tune to get the driveablity right.

R.Barn- i see you run a 351, would it be easier and better if I just bought a Cleveland or Windsor block and built that up so eventually I could stroke that to a 393 or 408? Give me the pros and cons on the 351 if any

Also why not use my stock block? Ive heard it is better because it has been through various heat levels therefore being stronger.

I'm just trying to figure out what is the cheapest and easiest way to N/A get 400-500rwhp.

I want to be afraid to boost it... hahaha

Yes it is nice since the block has been heat cycled, but the reason to go to another block is to get four bolt mains. You can buy a girdle, and that should help out considerably. I am very happy with mine. I used a stock block, and with a mild build I am around 400 hp/tq on the motor with more at the push of a button.

The cheapest way...still isnt cheap.
I say boost it and call it a day.
Don't forget your fuel system if you go that route.

A 351 would make it easier to get to 400-500 but still not cheap.
Disadvantage - Price and Weight otherwise...its better

351W is better for hp over 500rwhp, which is what I wanted.
while relatively easy to do there are still headaches and draw backs to the swap
It weighs more and has hood clearance probs, but is stronger engine all around.

If you only want 400rwhp (about 500hp) then just build up a stout 347 with a small
shot of nitrous for the weekends and have half the headaches of putting a 351W in there.

or you can just turbo a slightly upgrade stock engine and hit 400+rwhp.
There are about 50 ways to skin this cat

Its just easier to order another block already done up. It's not more expensive
and you now have a spare block to set aside.

If you want to get insane, drop a 351W in there and turbo it later like I am

there are some terminators that would be hard to touch.... but they also have turbos...i have seen one in particualr that had a TT setup pushing 900rwhp on pump gas.... but im still you'll have your way with man others... and your car is a hell of a sleeper so they wont see i coming

I have Scat 347 kit with Probe pistons for $750 in stock and ready to ship. Don't pay for someone's crazy overhead.
