Default Gear problem?

I just installed 3.55 gears in my car today. The problem is that they will turn backwards with ease, but when turn them forward you almost have to use a bar. What do you think is wrong?

Need more info. I am assuming this is on a 93 Stang with an 8.8.

As a general rule of thumb, you can usually get away with installing the same pinion bearing shim or at least one of the same thickness on FMS gears and the same crush collar.
If your gears are not Ford Motorsport gears, then all bets are off and you will need to setup the rear end from the ground up.

What do you have?

Did you reuse all of the Mustang parts when installing the gears? pinion bearing, shims, etc.? or did you use the parts from the Exploder?

I used all my cars parts except for the gears and one shim. I didn't take the bearing off of the pinion gear (whatever its called) because it spun well.

That's the problem. Use the bearing and shim from the other pinion and you will be much closer. Do you have a dial indicator with a magnetic stand? You will need one to check the back lash.
