Guage problems

THANKS GUYS for all the help you've been giving me, now i have an issue with some guages. Sometimes my temp and my fuel gage just goes crazy, the temp will go from cool to almost hot and my fuel gage pegs out way past full. They both do it at the same time but the car isn't over heating and it doesn't matter how much gas in the tank. Does anybody have a clue??? I put in an after market autometer 5" tach with a shift light, and have the red wire goin to the fuse panel to the acc fuse and a ground goin to a bracket right below the steering coloum, could this have an effect on why my guages go speratic sometimes?? OH, and sometimes the oil pressure guage is funky sometimes and it's all the way to the high side but in the normal range. I'm lost on this so if anybody can help me out, THANKS!!

RE: Guage problems

the temp and gas gauge are on the same harness i believe, and if thats the case then your harness is grounding out on something. as for the oil gauge, i believe that your sending unit is going bad, or grounding out, one or the other.

same thing happened to me with oil pressure guage, it would read ok for a little bit then it would go nuts jumping from normal to maxed out really fast, found out one of the wires was vibrating against the exhaust and grounding out

anybody have a clue that if a 2 1/16 autometer gauge fits in the stock cluster, probably not without a little mods huh???
