yes i did soak them put theres no point in soaking hydrolic lifters "or so ive read" and what adjustment bro you tighten the rocker bolt down what adjustment. If you dont tighten it down its going to be loose and come off so i dont know why people say adjust these are pedestal mount non adjustable rockers and when the rocker is bolted down tight the pushrod still has play i could put a dime between the rocker and valve stem. I thought my lifters were badi put my old ones i even tried putting on the stock rockers even those were loose little bit tighter but loose.Ive never heard of anyone using longer pushrods for only four cylinders and im stumped ive read all the articles and what not.

Mods done so far is a 98 explorer gt40p complete motor
i used long block only upgraded spirngs from tfs steeda #19 cam 24# blue top injectors explorer intake stock maf crane 1.7 roller rockers " noisy as hell" undrive pulleys
bbk unequal length headers. A few of the rockers have too much lash in them and others are fine I ordered 6.300 length pushrods and they were too long "they pushed the valve down a bit so i stuck with the stock pushrods put it back toghether runs ok but the rockers make alot of noise i dont know if i should order another size pushrod or my rocker seats are no good ?? "

so do you have roller rockers(valave lash adjutment)? or pedestal (torque down)

Don't guess with the valve train....do it right..... http://www.compcams.com/information/Products/Pushrods/ ....and as it says in the linked article......

Don’t assume anything in determining the right pushrod for your new engine. A pushrod that fits one engine may not necessarily work in another. Any number of items can be different on your engine, requiring you to use a different pushrod length.

those rockers are a waste of time get you something you can adjust
those are the bolt on roller rockers

what you need are screw in studs and guideplates and some adjustable rockers

you can shim the ones you have if the rockers are to tight but if there lose i dont know what you can do????

If you dont want to take the heads off the only other option you have would be the crane rocker arm guide plate kit part number crn36655 $119 holcomb motorsports sells these but your still going to need another set of adjustable 1.7 rockers. you can check the part number maybe you can find it cheaper somewhere else.

I have the gt40p heads on my 1994 mustang and im using my stock pushrods and everything works great but i have screw in studs and 1.6 adjustable roller rockers.

on a side note so the 1.7 rockers and the steeda cam no valve to piston issues? I was thinking about going to this cam considering my tfs 1 idles like poo...........

i have gt40p's with crane 1.7 roller rockers using stock pushrods. they are much louder than stock.... when i first did my motor it was loud and ran like crap. so i took it apart and re-did the topend. i got it to run better but the rockers are still loud. it's been that way for almost a year now...

I just bought my tfs1 cam and sent my gt40p's to the machine shop for a once over. You guys arnt having any problems running 1.7's with that setup on a stock shortblock. The reason im asking is I havent bought my rockers yet.
