I have a friend that had that same problem on his 95 GT. His was on the pass. side rear. He spent weeks looking for the problem. Finally he took it to Ford and they put it on a frame machine and found a busted piece of metal that wouldn't show under normal circumstances. Pretty much only under load, or twisting of the frame. Luckly it was a part of the car that should never have done that and Ford fixed it for free. I hope this info helps. Good luck to ya.

without the quad shocks on there it could be the rear end is rotating backward under acceleration and the nose of the rear is hitting the pinion snubber mounted on the rear floorboard just above the rear end. this would be normal under acceleration as the reaction of the pinion driving down on the ring gear is for the entire rear end to rotate upward in the front as the pinion tries to climb up the ring gear. you might also want to take a close look at the welds on the torque boxes where the front ends of all the upper and lower control arms attach to the chassis to see if any are cracked or torn loose as this will let them twist and bang around the chassis.

if it only happens upon turning and hard acceleration and deceleration then It could possibly be the gears in the rear end if you have a locker of some sort.

no, as i said before this problem happened before the gears were installed.


it is coming from the rear drivetrain i suspect, could be anything, im not sure.

My friend has an 91 Audi 90 quattro, and he has something similar happening. He checked the tire jack but that wasn't it, although it sounded like it was, so now he is pretty sure it has something to do with his rear suspension, although he doesn't know exactly what.

I'd say its most likely something in your suspension, maybe something is getting a little loose, allowing for it to slip a little under chasis strain. But that's just a guess.

Mine was doing that when i first got it and i ended up replacing the motor and trans mounts and that cured the problem for me.

You might also want to consider putting the quad shocks back in.

Hope you get it fixed before something bad happens.

my friend has a lowered 93 gt and whenever he does that the bumpstop hits and its extremely loud. Also when he turns the driveshaft rubs on the underside of the car. Just an idea.
