hey, would it be allright for me to run 20 or 15-50 when its warm outside???? i imagaine it has a lot of protection. my friend ran it in his for a long time and he had over 150k on the motor and it ran ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! just wanted to know what you guys think, oh, and it would be amsoil. THANKS!

dig up a user manual if you don't have one, it'll specify what oils you can use depending on ambient conditions. i've a 94 ranger that i dump 20/50 in during the summers. it has a lot of miles (196k) and is rather worn out so it benefits from the thicker oil.
the risk being that the tolerences inside your motor are a bit too small for the thicker oil and you may end up causing some damage due to a lack of oil. i think it'd be a real bad move on mod motors, but i think the 302's are more forgiving.

Like Monch said, thicker oil can actually do more harm than good in some cases. Your 302 is more likely to do better wth the heavier oil than a 4.6. It can also rob you of a few horsepower.
