If you're lookin to save $ and you can do your own work, get a cam, port your heads, AC and Smog delete, headers, advance your timing, (been a while but 14 degrees rings a bell for mid 80 car) swap your tranny for the high end T-5, there's plenty you can do and keep your sleeper look.

ok. well.. i think what ill try for now is gears, pulleys and some kick *** tires.. i have a bbk o/r h pipe already with the stock rear section but i guess ill get some bbk headers too...any decent noticable gain on headers?

Sure headers is a noticable sound difference, dont know really about HP, maybe like 5.. The pulleys you will feel though. That is what I am doing next after my gear install (4.10s) on Sat. morning. Should be running low 14's after gears, full exhaust, CAI, pulleys, and a short belt.

I'd start by exchanging your heads for later 87-93 heads. When Ford went to the EFI in '86 they used truck heads that only produced 200hp, in '87 ford changed the heads and gained 25hp. Not sure if the cam was changed aswell. You should be able to pick up a set of stock heads cheap. While the heads are off, I'd replace the valve springs and go w/ 1.7 rollers. Full exhaust, pulleys, and rear gears. You can also go w/ a larger t/body, your '86 has a 58mm if I'm not mistaken compared to '87-'93 which had 60mm, but I'd go w/ a 65mm for your set-up
