94 gt is getting no spark?
hey guys my 94 gt isnt getting an spark. when i turn the key on i hear the fuel pump activate but i dont hear the rotor in the distributor spin. i already bought a new ignition module, and a distributor and it still wont work. the only way i get it to start is by hooking up a test light to aground and while the key is on i have someone crank the engine on. when the engine is cranking i touch a yellowish wire with the test light and the car turns on, but it only comes on for a minute or two then i dies again. can anyone give me some advice before i throw money were i shoudnt.

RE: 94 gt is getting no spark?
duh!!!The dizzy rotor only spins when the motor is cranking hook everything back up the way it should and remove the coil wire from the dizzy and instal an inline spark checker....if you don't have one lick your finger and touch one end of the wire and put your other finger on the tip of your nose and have your friend crank the motor if all is well with the dizzy then the coilshouldfire spark!!!! then watch your nose light up like rudolph!!! you can check the windings of a coil with an ohmmeter. possible bad pick up in the dizzy ...happens but not as common.... I'd check the coil first.

this is a stupid question but what excactly is "the dizzy"? and i already replaced the coil. the car doesnt get a spark at all. the only way it gets it is by me basically "jumping" one of the distributor connection wires with a tap of a ground while the engine is being cranked.

The dizy is what they are calling the distributor cause it is easier to spell and it spins round and round (dizzy). However, it is silent in its operation and will not be audible unless there is something seriously wrong! Make sure you are getting power in to the coil with your test light with the switch on. If not, it may be the switch or something in the wiring.
