AOD removal
Whats the easiest way to remove my aod tranny from my fox? I know the driveshaft, tranny crossmember, shifter, h-pipe, and linkage has to be removed. But what is the easiest way to get to all the bolts on the bellhousing. Lower the tranny down alittle and use long swivel extensions? Anything im forgettin?

RE: AOD removal
yeah.... disconnect battery...remove starter and inspection plate to access torque convertor bolts and lowering back of tranny to gain easier access to upper bolts works well

You can get to all the bellhousing bolts, no problem.. Make sure you get the torque converter unbolted from the flywheel.. you can test this by turning the torque converter with your hands.. it should spin freely if it's seperated. That's all taht holds it onto the engine.. bellhousing and tq converter to flywheel. After that, get a jack under the trans to hold it up.. they make special attatchemtns for the jack to hold up the trans.. then take off the trans mount, unbolt the driveshaft from the rear axle and pull it off of the output shaft of the trans.. get ready for a big leak.. drop her on down.. gota have your car jacked up pretty high to be able to pull it out..

We're both right. Just speaking in different contexts. Once you unbolt the flywheel, in order to drop the trans you have to seperate the trans from the engine. The test for if it's seperated from the engine at the bellhousing is by trying to turn the TQ converter. If it's spinning freely, the trans and engine are seperated, and you're ready to drop.
Pardon my comment before, I didn't realize that we had read and interprited his question differently.

Im sorry, I still dont understand how your explaining this. What I'm saying is the torque converter has studs welded on it that slide in the flexplate holes and uses nuts to secure it. Unlike a chevy, that has nuts welded on the converter and uses bolts to secure the flexplate to the converter. Sorry if im explaining info that you already knew, but thought this was a more detailed explanation.
