Default SC high mileage motor

I have a 88 GT and I am looking into Supercharging it no more than 8-10 psi. Its got about 118,000 miles on the clock. My question is what preventive maintenance should I do to make sure my motor is stable enough to withstand the SC. Also does anyone have a High mileage SC'd engine? and what brand kit would you recommend? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

instead of putting a blower on it why not do HCI? the reason im asking is because my friend had a blower on stock heads and cam and it ran descent, but when he put H&C on he took off the blower and the car was faster than with stock H&C and just the blower. Then all he did was throw a 175 shot on it now the car really moves!

Not really, you should be fine with just 8#'s, just keep the car in good tune

Before I invested a lot of cash in a supercharger set-up on your car with that many miles on it, I would at least consider dropping the oil pan and installing some new bearings on the crank and rods but only after doing a good compression test to check the rings out first.
No sense installing a SC without doing some homework first on what shape the engine is in first IMO.

I will do a compression test and start there before I start anything. Would it just be a better idea to get a used block get all the machine work done and replace the internals with a new forged kit. I know it would cost more money but it would problably be a safer way to go. I would just want to know what parts to go with( fuel system ignition etc.) to start from scratch on a motor prepped for a supercharger.

you might want to consider getting a short or long block from one of the many engine builders out there who do 5.0 Fords like DSS or Coast High Performance or even Ford Racing Performance parts. any of them could give you good advice on what you need to build into the engine in order to supercharge it without worry of blowing it up down the road. they also sell kits with the roatating assemblies if you want to do the block prep locally and assemble it yourself. there's any number of different ways to go depending on how much time and money you want to invest in the effort.
