i have a 89 gt 5speedi have summit headers but what is better to get an h pipe or x pipe what would be the differences

i just got an hpipe.
and it sounds great but its not as loud as i would of wanted it.
if i were you i'd get the xpipe.
i almost wish i did

do you guys run the xpipe with cats or not and what is the difference between h and x pipes

the h pipe is louder than the x pipe... the x gives a lil more top end power, while the h gives more low end... not much tho... but i do like how the h is louder than the x

I believe the H pipe is louder, which makes more power is a toss up and is insignificant.

The choice between X and H is personal preference...

H will give a more muscle car sound, where an X will give a more Nascar sound...

I had an H on my '86...it sounded good. I just got an X on my '93...it sounds real good!

Personally, I like the X better...I got mine from UPR, with Cats...for $299. Awesome!

It's just my $.02 but I think theH is a bit deeper and has a cleaner rumble at the low end while the X is more raspy and choppy at the low end.
An H pipepretty much maintains it's tone throughout the power band but gets louder (of course) while an X-pipe comes alive under power.
