Default Stuttering when turning

I'm having problems w/ my car stuttering when I turn. If I'm stopped and I turn the wheel, the RPM's will drop. If I'm taking a sharp turn real slow (like off a light) it will almost stall out. And when I accelerate during a turn, it just sputters and doesn't really go.

Would u/d pullies solve my problem?

I'll bet you, if what you have described correctly is true, 10$ that you're baffle has broken loose in your fuel tank. The rpm's in these cars will normally drop when you turn the steering wheel at a stop, all of the other symptoms that you describe sounds exactly like a broken baffle in the fuel tank. Does it hesitate a little when you accelerate in a straight line?

Yes, it does hesitate a little in a straight line. I've got a mechanical pump on my block, no pump in the tank.
What exactly is the "baffle"? I put on a new gas tank before I got my new motor due to rust in my old tank, so a problem in the tank is very possible, I did do it myself, lol.

I've been getting about 140 miles to the tank, about 12MPG for the longest. This last tank of gas I've gotten 75 and I'm sitting at a 1/4 of a tank, so I'll end up getting about 100 to the tank, about 7-8 MPG. Think this could be related if there's something wrong with in my tank?

Thanks

It's typical and not abnormal. The mechanical fuel pump puts out slightly more pressure than the carb needs it's characterised by the car stuttering or down on power while turning. I don't know how to fix it, but I know that's most likely the problem.

I'd look at the power steering pumplike grabbemsaidsince you say it happens when you are stopped and you crank the wheel the RPMs drop.
