stock block and 400 hp no problem somewhere around or there after 500 hp you start having problems but there are a few lucky ones that have pushed the envelope but sooner or later it gives up the ghost!![&:]

302's are suprisingly resiliant, at least when treated right. Even the stock crankshafts can take a wicked beating and keep in one piece and straight. For that kinda power I'd personally run better rods with floating pins and some good forged pistons(I am actually), it'll make me feel better when I get on it, but also if you pick good parts and you use lighter rods/pistons you're taking some inertial load off the crank, and hence, off the block. I've heard of a few people who split the blocks(uncommon though), don't know anyone who lost a crank, and the only folks I know who threw rods, broke pistons or ripped up a valve train were because they were stupid, used cheap crap or abused the parts beyond their limit
