Does anyone know what could cause the starter to stick for a second after the car has been starter? This is what I have already replaced: starter, starter relay, ignition switch, starter solenoid. The motor in my car is a 92 mustang gt motor and therefore has the smaller type starter with one 4 gauge and one smaller wire. This started happending after I put a 130a alt on and was messing with the starter relay, perhaps I hooked the wires up wrong, but I doubt it. The two wires that come of the starter both go to the one side of the relay, correct? otherwise the sarter just stays engaged. help me out with this
Are you sure the actual ignition switch isn't sticking? When you turn the key to Start, watch it and see if it sticks for a second before it returns to Run
well not exactly, I replaced one thing at a time and when that didnt solve the problem and just brought it back and got my money back, so yes i replaced everything but afterwards just put my old stuff back, btw you were the one who told me to replace the starter, no offense. howeverat the time Iwas almost positive that I had wired everything right. however now that I have replaced almost everything i am starting to doubt myself.
well yes there is only one wire going to the starter, however there is a smaller wire that is going to the ignition solenoid that is mounted on the starter
