Where is the hole? If you could weld a plate over it, it would work for now, but that is sure enough southern engineering. I would hate to ruin a good engine over something like that. Are you sure you cant find a used one somewhere?

Yes it can be welded, as long as it doesn't warp and cause an oil leak.

IMHO, the worst part is going to be getting the old pan off your car.
My pan on my racer has been welded and its no big deal.
Have the inside/outside of the pan beyond clean before any welding is attempted.
Good luck..........

it would have to be a low amp weld, i would do 45 amp 6011. 6013 will put too much bead on(heat) and probably wont be able to root nicely because of the oil residue.

I took mine to work and had a guy that real good with a MIG welder do it for me..........
Dunno what his set-up was was but 45 amps would be about OK...

Yes, you can weld it, preferably out of the car tho! I wouldn't suggest welding it on the car, too many dangers in and around there to be welding. IMO

play it safe dude!!! jack the engine up and remove the oil pan and take off the pan and go get it welded!! if your chain broke when you get the new chain back on I 'd do a compression test and or cylinder leakage test to make sure you don't have any bent valves[&:]

i'll be welding mine back up =)

as stated, take it off, make sure its all carb cleaned up around where the welding is happening so the metal is CLEAN.

if you weld on the vehicle you can easily end up with slag in the pan, and ONE single bead of slag or splatter will destroy your motor (i've seen it happen before at work)
