Get Motorcraft FL-1A, or if you're hardcore go with the FL-1HP. I think if you're engine is close to stock..meaning you could have all the bolts ons yet still stock internals...go with what came from the factory. I do.

I have heard that the K&N is no better than a good ol' fram (OIL FILTER). The head informative at our local race shop said that their shop always uses frams, unless an oil filter is supplied by the customer, PH8A is what I use as well, oil stays fairly clean, don't think it would be any more clean with a K&N, maybe im wrong.

May sound strange But I run a Volvo oil filter. It is a little shorter but has a check valve built into the filter to hold oil pressure steady.Oil pressure comes up faster.I haven't searcked or any made for the 302 with the valve. The Volvo filter was always free and is the same thread as the 302.So it screws right on no problem.

i was told by a parts manager that ford's motorcraft line is basicly just fram products with the motorcraft logo, and the motorcraft spark plugs are just autolites, and also that the motorcraft oil is just whatever ford could but cheapest and put in a bottle with the motorcraft logo. When I worked in a parts store a few years back, the motorcraft bottles actualy had havoline oil. Not trying to argue, thats just what I was told. Fram and Autolite are products a company called Allied signal.
