RE: distributor install
Just mark the position of the old one. On the old distributer and match with the new one. You also can just bump the motor till the 1st piston is TDC and put the new distributer button in pointing towards the 1 cylinder.

RE: distributor install
Grab a sharpé and make a line somewhere on your engine where your rotor is pointed.
Then unscrew the bolt holding down the small plate at the base of the distributor.
Lift it up(rotor will spin a bit)
Replace with new distributor after applying the gear lube.
Make sure the rotor lines up with the line you had just made
Tighten her down, plop on the spark plugs and you're basically done.
Just gotta set the timing again

RE: distributor install
here's the easiest way I know of to change the distributor and not mess up.
1- remove distributor cap and make a mark on the intake with a Sharpie marker in the center of where the rotor is pointing
2- remove the distributor hold down bolt and clamp from the base of the distributor where it sits in the intake manifold hole
3- slowly pull up on the distributor and watch where the rotor moves to as it just clears the gear down on the cam
4 - make another mark on the intake where the rotor is pointed when it just comes off the cam gear
DO NOT DISTURB THE ENGINE AT THIS POINT, DON'T MOVE A THING EXCEPT SLOWLY PULL THE DISTRIBUTOR OUT ALL THE WAY
5 - place the new distributor down into the hole and rotate the rotor until it is pointed at the mark made in step 4 when the distributor gear just touches the cam gear and see if it will go on down onto the oil pump drive shaft correctly. if it won't, then use a 1/4" socket to move the oil pump drive shaft until it will go on with the rotor pointed at the mark.
6 -insert the distributor all the way down into positon and check the rotor against the mark made in step one. it should line up pretty close to the mark. if it don't, pull the distributor all the way out and rotate it a bit and try again.
7- if the marks line up OK, reinstall the hold down clamp and bolt and tighten it up
8- fire up the motor and then set the timing with a timing light after it comes up to normal operating temp

RE: distributor install
thanks a lot guys! so more less, you just have to line up the the location of the rotor on the new distributor with old one while not disturbing the mtoor?

And also, in my instructions it also reccommended not using Synthetic oil.
for XX number of miles.
