link to the scat rods? the thing about aftermarket rods is they all have 3/8 bolts which is thicker than the 5/16 ford bolt. so, a regular arp 3/8 will serve you plenty fine. its when we're talking stock rods you need the strongest bolt possible to compensate for the small size.

you WILL need to get your rotating assembly balanced, which means bringing the following to the machine shop:
crank, rods, pistons, wrist pins, pin locks (im assuming the rods are floaters), piston rings, rod bearings, flywheel, and harmonic balancer

Yes, definately get it balanced. And the cheaper of the i-beam rods Scat has for Forduse ARP 3/8" 8740 bolts, so you'll be fine with those.

if you have to ask it may be best, but it all depends on your level of knowledge

i have a carport and in live in florida where everthing seems to have sand grit on it - but i will make sure its clean enough and will kick its ***. covering all surfaces that engine parts and tools will be laying on with fresh cardboard is cheap and easy. wash all sockets and such first to get any grease outta them, and ya should be good to go.
