Default modified 5.0 lacks power

i recently bought a 94 5.0 its supposed to be bored .60 over with no miles on it and it has a holley systemax 2 kit 3.73 gears rebuilt c4 tranny out of some older vehicle with 2500stall and a shift kit with b and m shifter and computer has not been tuned. If i start off in 1st gear and punch it it will not even spinthe tires unless i power brake it. but the car sounds really good and seems to run fine except it constantly moves up and down from about 800 rpm to 1000 rpm the whole time it idles. Is that a problem? any suggestoons on why my car seems to have no power?

What kind of cam? The stall needs to match the powerband of the cam.

Also may be a vacuum leak. Do you have an EGR?

well It isnt hooked up the guy that had this car before me was turning it into a drag car. also when i put it in gear it jumps and dies but i think that that is the torque converter. it has a roller rocker cam i believe. it came wit the systemax kit

i dont know what the timing is set at i just got the car but i think the timing may be off a lil due to how the rpm moves up and down when idling. i havent really looked for the electrical connection but i think it isnt there i just seen where the hose hooks up on the motor

Well, I checked out the Systemax system and it does recommend the 2500 stall, so that is good.

Does it stumble when you mash the gas?

Although this could be any number of things, the symptoms are similar to what you'd see with a vacuum leak.

Check the timing.
Also has it been tuned up recently? (Plugs, wires, etc)?
