Default 91 GT Updates..

I got the car back from the shop today with the 4.10's installed. The guy told me that since they are heat treated there are no break-in periods.. I was like sweet! He also stated that these were one of the quietest gear sets he had installed, I got the Superior Axle and Gear Ring and Pinion kit from a local race shop.

It ended up costing less than he had originally quoted me. It was $236.00 .. I was very happy about that. They don't howl, and the RPM's are very withstandable on the street, strongly urge 4.10's for anyone looking for an upgrade.

The mechanic said that when he took the rear apart on my 116,XXX mile GT he was very impressed. There was no wear on anything, the clutches (he said) looked like they had never ingaged in the Posi, and told me that the previous owner was probably a commuter, and the rear end suffered very minimul use, he didn't have to replace ANYTHING! Which I was happy to hear. I should be making a trip to the track this Wednesday night (LACR) and will update with new track times.

I have a little over $110.00 to spend, what could I get for a little more POWER!?

how do you like the 4.10's, IMO I think people overlook 4.10's by saying they are too steep for normal driving, I have to disagree they are perfect street gear. Hey BTW what size tires do you have now? what brand and how tall are they?

Hey do you shift in to 5th at 45Mph for cursing? I make all my shifts at 2500rpm on normal driving and at around 4th gear @42-45mph im at 2500rpm, then I shift into 5th, is that the same for you or do you shift at different times

Yes they are! I love them, and my mileage hasn't changed either. My tires as you can tell aren't very 'beefy' they are just normal street tires, but they hook like no other street tire I have ever had. They are expensive, but worth it. Remington XT-120 HR400's .. The size are P225/55R16 all the way around. If I launch they spin through 1st a little, but then grip and go, I do only have 20psi in the rear tires though.. [sm=guilty.gif]

4.10's reign KING.. [sm=hail.gif]

It is about the same for me. I am in fifth almost always on the street, but it is great and the acceleration is still there. I usually shift at about 2500 RPM but lately have been shifting at about 3000 rpm just because it only takes a pulse of the gas to get there!

4.10's rock on the street, I embarrased my buddy in his LS1 Z28 automatic the other night from a dead stop, I jumped out in front of him by a few car lengths and then when we were running about 60 on the interstate he wanted some so I threw it in third and jumped out in front of him again. That made my night because he praises the LS1, haha
