i apologize, i misread the original 6011. trust me i know the characteristics of the rods. im a certified pipe welder by trade and work in nothing but nuclear plants all over the u.s.a. the reason you ran 90 amps on the subframe connectors is because the base metals being joined were thicker. the boxes are essintially paper thin. no more than 3/32 of an inch thick. either way tig is the best way to go. ive done alot of repairs on boxes that tore outside the weld zone because the stick welding got the base metal so hot that it fatigued it.

right, it is very thin but he wants to go under a mig bead. those get pretty beefy, and a regular mig most likely wont go back under the bead and into the metal. so i assumed the easiest way would be to penetrate that bead with a 6011 and make the weld hold up this time through.

if it were me and i had old mig bead in the situation, i would tig the old bead back together by dry washing it and then overlay it with the 309H but as i can see your just a backyard pro so im not keep arguing the point. pinks all out is coming on in 5 minutes on speed channel.

im not really arguing or saying im a professional or whatever. TIG really isnt that pratical to go out and buy a whole setup for torque box welding. that would be pretty simple and easy, and hell who doesnt love to TIG anyways? I find ive used arc welding on more applications than i would mig.tig etc.
oh and i think pinks is played out and rigged.
