Default Leaking tranny fluid

My car is leaking tranny fluid from the rear. So would it be leaking from the yoke? If not what would cause this? The casing is not cracked.

chances are it's the bushing.......and if it's the bushing the yoke will be scored too.

the seal is more of a dust cover really.......are you talking a few drips or steady dripping ?

I just noticed it today and it is leaking pretty bad. What bushing are you talking about and how is that fixed? What would cause it to go bad?

in the tail shaft is a brass 2 piece bushing, it can pop out, wear out, too much vibraion whatever

you need to remove the tailshaft and replace the bushing....i had to do it on my '90 'vert..... i just bought a new tailshaft for $20 from a trans shop, and then put in a new seal, check your yoke.....even a fingernail dragging will thrash a new bushing, but it is prob a noticible groove, an ford doesn't carry that yoke anymore.

here....quick way to tell

grab the yoke and try to wiggle it...it should not move at all.....if it does the bushing is shot
