Default The perfect engine t-stat?

I have a 1985 lx notch 5.0. I have edelbrock intake with 600 holley. The rest is bone stock. Whatthermostat should I put in it? right now it running too hot for DD. At what tempdoes the eninge perform at its best?

200* is optimum temp, a 180* or 190* stat is best

I went with a 180° to keep it a lil cooler...

stock thermostat is 195 but itll make more power with a 180. not a huge amount but the cooler you can get parts (within reason) the longer they last and the more power the motor will make

since you are carbed you could go 160 if you wanted to, but only really if you run the **** out of it
