Default phenolic spacer

i just ordered my gaskets and i ordered 1" phenolic spacer. i forgot to ask first. what are the pros and cons of 1" spacer to the 3/8" spacer other than clearance room? will i see bigger gains with the one inch? any draw backs? should i have gotten the 3/8" spacer?

I can't see how it would be a big deal besides clearance. I have a 3/8" spacer under my carb so it sits up high enough. Wouldn't a bigger spacer theoretically allow more space for the air and fuel to mix thus creating more power (supposedly)?

i agree but i dont want to lose any torque but according to samseed in a previous post a spacer actualy helps get lost torque back. so thats why i asked. is there a draw back for going one inch instead of 3/8

You'll be happy with the 1". Most people just have clearanc issues with the 1" and an aftermarket intake. Longer runners = more low end torque. So your 1" should, in theory, give you slightly more of that low end torque that youre looking for (when compared to a 3/8.) And of course, it helps a bit more with the heat transfer issues.

thanks sam!

does anyone know how i can measure how much tall in total my new intake will be compared to the stock one? i want to know iftheheat extractor hood would work or cobra R hood. worst case a regular cowl. im assuming the typhoon plus spacer will overall be about 3-4 inches taller than stock and will not fit under the stock hood.
