as the title says, I need help identifying a c4, what to look for and all.

I need to know how to spot it, my boss at work has a 302 with trans out of a 79 mustang, and from what I read they should have c4's but he says it was an aod but he's not sure b/c it was years ago. at first he said it was a c6 so I know he is confused

the only difference between a c4 and c5 is just the internals?

Im trying to gather information so I can help my friend make is car more consistent for bracket racings next season. Do you guys think a race prepared c4 is a good choice

SROD = 4 (4-speed od)
c3 = V
c4 = W
c5 = C
c6 = Z (police automatic)
