now when i put the regulater on i never did anything with the inertia switch or reset button. could that mabe have something to do with it or dose that not really matter?

you need an A/F meter to know how rich your running, you probably are running way rich. let it sit at idle and right before you die of fuel axfixiation turn it off and check your plugs, thats another way to check. sounds to me like all that black smoke might be excess fuel. If youre not running a h/c/i you really dont need a bigger pump. If I was you I would probably put my stock one back onn and save that till you get at least a cam and heads. good luck kid

this post has bad information...

having a larger pump will not make the car run rich, The 5.0 has a return style fuel system. Any unused fuel gets sent back to the tank. You can run a 255lph pump on a completely stock engine and it will not cause any problems

If the regulator is faulty, it make you run pig rich. Are you sure it's installed properly though?
