If it is a factory guage, i would start with buying a mechanical guage and then see where your at.

Would I just connect that to the white/red striped oil sending unit wire then?

Sending unit should be easy enough, I guess I will change the oil at the same time. I bought the car a couple months ago, haven't drove it much, but don't have any idea when the oil was changed last either...

stock sending unit and gauge sux... mine only works have the time and when it does its pretty much at max as far as the guage goes... my after market gauge however reads a good 45-50 depending on how hot hte oil is of course... hot oil less pressure becuase the viscosity goes down u can keep you old sending up like i did... just get some piping and a T connector so u can screw both sending units in... get an autometer guage... what color doesnt really matter i like mine and it was only like 45 bucks form summit and since im running a s/c now its pretty cheap insurance... i sitll need get a fuel pressure gauge tho... and there is about a thousand and one different way to mount it so thats kind of optional on which way you go... i have a pillar and a cluster... 4 gauges... soon to be five in a months or less

I know my oil pressure gauge is definitely towards the high side of the gauge, never gave it a second thought actually.

would the sending unit be the first place to start for low oil pressure as well?
