Default 6AL Install

I have an '88 LX 5.0. I'll be buying and installing an MSD 6AL ignition some time soon. My battery is in my trunk. The MSD instructions say that I need to connect the unit to the positive and negative terminals on the battery (which means I would need to get two longer cables, drill another hole in the firewall, and run the cables all the way to the battery).
Would it make any difference if I just connected the 6AL to the starter relay where the battery positive cable is connected instead of directly to the battery, and run the negative cable from the 6AL to the frame instead of back to the battery? Or would that mess something up in the 6AL?

Thanks.

Your plan is fine, that's what I did since my battery is also in the trunk. It has worked good for 5 years now. Just make sure you get full battery voltage to the box for max performance...

ya, as long as the positive wire is connect to the battery wires and the negative is grounded, it doenst matter if your battery is in the trunk. your idea is fine
