Default Clutch decision

So when i bought my car it came with a clutch, its a Luk clutch kit. Has anyone ever heard of that? Im alittle on the hesitant side to install it before I know if its a cheap clutch or a good one.

I was looking threw magazines and seem to be leaning towards the king cobra kit, And the ford racing t5 rebuild kit. Im pretty sure its 184 for the king cobra, and 250 for the rebuild kit.

Another question I have is do I need a new flywheel or do I just leave the one in there now?

don't know about the clutch you have i've never heard of it. but the king cobra is an great steet car clutch. you shouldn't need a fly wheel unless it is very worn. most clutch places resurface a fly wheel before installing a new clutch. but if your doing it you wanna A. go somewhere to have the flywheel resurfaced or B. just by a new one. you probally don't need the tranny rebuild kit. if you don't have much experience with tranny and what not you should leave it to a professional. and the only reason you would need a rebuild is you are having trouble getting in and out of gears. clutch replacement does not require a tranny rebuild.

The KC clutch is not a good clutch for anything. If your stock go with a SPEC stage 1. And as stated above get the fly wheel turned.

Well I do think I need to rebuild it, I cannot put the tranny into 1st gear at all...now i dont know if thats because the clutch but it just wont go....My dads friend works on trannys so he told me he would rebuild it and install the clutch no problem. But how do you know if the flywheel is worn? Where can I take it to have it resurfaced? But you guys do think the king cobra would be the best bet?

If your dad's friend works on tranny's, ask him to look at. I do not think the KC would be best, that is not what isaid. I said they are not any good, go with SPEC.

How much do the SPEC clutch's usually run? around the same price as the king cobra's? If I was to buy a new flywheel what brand would be best to go with? I know everything in it now is stock.

yea he is right it would be worth spending a little more for the spec. as for the tranny yea it sounds like you need a rebuild you probally have a bad sycro. if your going to put the money into a new clutch, tranny rebuild you should get a new flywheel. its worth the extra $$$ to know that nothing is going to go wrong with the tranny and clutch.

yes stage 1 would be great or even a stage 2. once you get to stage 3 or 4 you talking about clutchs that are suited more for the track or very high hp cars.
