You need to swap the drive gear AND the driven gear. I used a yellow drive gear and a red driven gear for my 3.73's

I have the same issue... I have a 91 T-5 and I have changed the driven gear to the red 21 tooth but have yet to do the drive gear. I have it sitting on my dresser and I look at it everyday and say, Man I really hate to do that... what is involved with changing it, when I looked at it, it looks like you have to pull the trans, and pull the entire back half of the trans apart, is this correct?

I used that chart to determine my driven gear, which should have been a 21-tooth, when I swapped my AOD for a TKO600 (7 Tooth driven gear). I have 3.73 gears. My speedo was off by about 5 MPH. I used my GPS to display my actual speed. I ended up getting a 20 tooth driven gear and now it is right on. So, the chart is helpful, but not perfect.
