problem with ignition/fuel line in 88 GT
WheneverI go to start my 5.0 V8 GT, it will run as long asI have to key turned to start position and give it a little gas. If I am to have the key return to run, the car will run for only a second as long as I am giving it gas, but then immediately kill. I'm not sure if this is due to some wiring problem somewhre, or perhaps there is a problem with the fuel line in one location. If anyone can help with my problem please give me a message back.
Thank you, P.S. I may not be correct even on those two guesses, any help is welcome, thanks. |
RE: problem with ignition/fuel line in 88 GT
sounds like timing of some sort.
so your saying it does start and runs but as soon as you let off the start position it dies? so is it actually running or just turning over? if its just turning with no fire check fuel, spark. if those are present check compression |
RE: problem with ignition/fuel line in 88 GT
sounds like your ignition switch is shot... start by changing that
once you get the car to run without you holding the key... THEN you can attack the problem of keeping it running. Try either cleaning the IAC, or adjusting your base idle screw. |
