If you can spin it 9+k rpm, make over 600hp and run consistent 9s N/A with it, I'll rate it a little higher than an average stock block.

You can go 9,000rpm on a stock block. Just not for very long, and maybe only once

Well, I wasn't thinking with stock valvetrain, I meant the bottom end. But yeah, stock valvetrain on a 5.0 only gets like what, 5,500-6,000 before it floats?

i doubt even stock bottom end would get you to 9k before you'd throw a rod or something serious of that nature. you NEED lightweight internals to throw revs like that. whether stock can even get there....i cant say for sure.

That write up by Crazyhorse is very helpful. Just to clear it up in the post it says that "z" and "m" in the ford part number indicates high performance, which is not true. The "Z" indicates that it is a mustang part. The "M" is just an engineering number. Here is a guide to decodingFord parts.

C5ZZ-2140-CR
C - Decade of Manufacture - 1960's in this case
5 - Decade Year - This is a '65
Z - Car line - Mustang
Z - Ford Service Part - This came from the Engineering Department
2140 - Basic part number - 2140 is a master cylinder
CR - Design Change - indicates manual disc brakes

Casting Code Definitions
Decade of Manufacture:
A=1940
B=1950
C=1960
D=1970
E=1980
F=1990
Decade Year:
The digit of the year. A C8 would be 1968, a D1 would be 1971, C3 is a 1963.
