well "fastest" stock 5.0 would be the 93 cobra. but getting one of those is kind of pricey! i say the 89 notch 5 speed would be the fastest, its mass air, no air bags, wieghs just over 3k plus driver and its most likely the sexiest car ever.....

stock for stock, 87-92 are pretty much the same, 93's have different pistons and make less power

technical the a 87 notch should be the fastest 5.0 besides the 93 cobra. because in 1988 ford change the cam in the 5.0 that resulted in a 3 hp loss that they never made public. and 87 has a slightly bigger throttle body than an 86. but the difference between any 86-93 5.0 is + or - 5 hp wich is nothing you would ever notice. also a 1993 non-cobra still has the same hp as the years before. in 1993 ford changed the way the measured the hp on their cars. before 1993 they didn't measure it with the alternator and power steering pump connected. also they left off the restrictive factory intake (everyone changes that whenthey get a stock 5.0 because it is so bad).

Dont buy a car because of how fast it is stock...From 85-up they are all pretty much even. Its the simple mods you do to them that will make it go. A few crank HP shouldnt be a desiding factor.

Technically, according to what I've read, my neighbour told me, blah blah blah. All theory with no proof.
I've seen more 87-88 5 spds dip into the 13's than 89-93's. Never owned or driven or even knew anyone with a true stock 93 Cobra with driver mod so this may be the king.
Presently have a stock 93 coupe. Stock meaning throttle body to cylinder head, intake to oil pan. I do have some external modifications. Alum driveshaft, 3.73, meter, air filter, long tubes and Flowmasters. It went 13.6@102. Truth is I'm not impressed.
My last Mustang was a 88 LX hatch. 280,000kms and burning 1L of oil every 1000km. Stock from air silencer, paper air filter, 4 catalytics and the ugly and quiet Ford mufflers. It was5 spd with the stock shifter that everyone is soquick toswap out. A set of 3.08 and a trac loc so worn it acted like an open. 13.9 @ 99. Slower than my present nice shiney lowered 5oh but the rusted 88 truely impressed me.
