Default o2's

well i just put on my set of bbk lt's and h-pipe but now my o2s dont reach to the connecter, now my question is where would i go to get new o2's that would reach that far and is there a way to run the car without o2s and have it run good?

You need your O2 sensors....

They selllonger wires...check them out at Summit:

to do it correctly, you need to move the o2 bung's to the old location, where the stock pipes would have them. the distance from header to o2 is crucial for proper readings.

will anything be harmed if i just plug the hole where the o2's plug in and run without o2's for now?

Your car will run terrible. But try it if you want, it's your car.

Nope....the EEC will compensate for the lack of the O2s signal, and provided there are no other circuits with problems. Do install them as soon as possible though.

if you want to run your car with out the 02's, look at the passenger side front of the intake, you will see a temp sensor there, unplug it, it will not let your computer know what the engine temp is, so it will run CL (closed loop) basically it the ecm does not accept signals from the sensors but runs at a bare bone stock tune of all stock tunes, it will run on the ricjs ide as if you started the car in the cold

also the stock ecm is pretty dumb for the most part, all it does when it reads the 02 is this:

when it senses oxygen in the exhaust it richens up, when it sees fuel it leans out, the computer then learns over time to adapt based on throttle position and a few other sensors, its a primitive system

also those BBK wore extenders work great, they have a fiberglass heatshield wrapped wire insolator so you dont have to worry about burning the wires up

DON'T....You don't want to take more inputs from the system, specially if it needs them to "estimate" the A/F based on coolant temp, air temp, TPS rate of change, MAF, etc.....leave the ACT connected. Since the system will not see the HEGOs switching (lean/rich)....open loop is automatically enforced by the system, and runs a variant of the FMEM strategy, since the input from the O2s will not exist, adaptive strategy is turned off.

BTW....that's what all the EEC systems do.....adjust fuel trimming based on the feedback from the O2s....if it sees a failure, it switches to a "limp mode" strategy, that' what they were designed for.....but removing more inputs from the system, will make the "limp mode" more critical.

Yeah. Dont remove any sensors. Best thing to do is get the extenders before even starting the car. Some systems (not sure about the EEC-IV) will learn the system without the O2s and the car wount run right for a while. And as far as moving them up in the header, Thats impossible. You need to have the O2 int he collector so it reads all of the cylinder's outputs instead of just one.

1) you have your loops reversed. Open loop means the system doesn't accept sensor input. Closed loop is the (feedback loop)
2) running in open loop is a bad idea.

You'll run rich, very rich and lean it out when it's WOT. Open loop means it runs on a predetermined timing and spark curve meaning it WILL NOT make any changes to the A/F. Regardless of anything in either the exhaust stream, engine temp, or load.

Get extenders or buy new 02 sensors with longer wires already on them (Bosch makes several OEM type O2 sensors with various length connectors)
