I would just buy a new autometer guage. They are much more accurate than the stock one.

that would be a good idea but right now im just trying to fix the stock one. what do i need to replace to get it to work?

When my temp guage stopped working it was theone wire sending unit on the intake, cheap and easy fix. Change out the ECT sensor and the sending unit and you should be good to go. I would do like I did and hook up a manual switch to be a able to turn the low speed fan on when ever you like, it works great.

the fan turned on because thats how the EEC is programmed. if it gets 0 signal from the ECT, it turns the fan on constant. the sensor itself might not be bad. you need to reinstall your thermostat to be sure. the fan should not kick on until the engine reaches 180-190
