Default hood insulation

I have a 1989 mustang gt. My hood insulaion has gone bad, it is falling down all over my engine and making a mess. Can I remove it, and be okay? Would this be a good or bad idea? I do want another one. Does anyone know where I can get a really cheap one?
Thanks

Just rip it out and have a bare hood. It only keeps heat in. I would not replace it. i removed mine.

Yeah just remove it. Unless you just want a new hood.
