If your rear end is stock and you want to find out what you have the easy way, just open up the driver's side door and look on the sticker. You should see an axle code there. It will say "AX" with a letter beside / under it. The axle code will tell you what the stock rear ratio is:
Next to / Under "AX" you will see one of the following characters... 8, E, M, Z. Here's what they mean:
8=2.73 conventional differential (not for the 5.0s unless someone swapped a 5.0 into the chassis)
E=3.27 Traction Lok limited slip differential
M=2.73 Traction Lok limited slip differential
Z=3.08 Traction Lok limited slip differential

all gt 5 speeds are 3.08. 3.27 are only for a auto gt. lx have 2.73 but i think 3.08 were an option from the factory.
