Kmember modifications. (Race Car) get another 2" lower
Whats up guys/gals. I am preparing a car for NMRA Pure Street duty for next year and during my suspension setups and talking to a few guys, figured something out. My cars front bumper will touch the very top of a coke can with two spare donuts on it. When I put the skinnies on the front that is going to pick the car up again a few more inches. Now most of you dont care but the rule book states that i can have 3 inches of ground clearence from the front to 12" past the centerine front axel. I figured out a way to modify the PARTS of a UPR Kmember kit to lower the car an additional 2 inches. This does nothing to affect steering geometry but simply brings the spring down a couple inches instead of buying new springs. Heres how it works. You take the basic UPR Kit ($699) and it comes with a rather large Eibach spring. If you notice the blue adjuster nut (cone and nut) there is a little over two inches of unthreaded space there. This hinders you from lowering the car anymore. If you take a cutting tool, careful when you mark it so its even, and cut that space off, THEN notch out a space so it fits over the shock, you will have lowered the car and additional 1.5-2" depending on how much you cut off. Its quick, easy, and most importantly, its free. Now I dont know about you but for a race car, I like it to sit low, and tuck the tires in the front.
