idle
first time user. please advise me on how to set the idle. this is what i have installed on the motor. moroso cold air in fenderwell, c&l mass air pipe, 76mm mass air meter calibrated for 24 lbs injecters , 65mm accufab throttle body, spacer, adjustable fuel pressure reg. set at 38 lbs., fuel pressure gauge, ford motorsports idle air adjuster plate, 24 lbs., injecters, plugs, wires, trick flo twisted wedge heads, 1.6 roller rockers, 1 piece push rods, guide plates, cam 499/510 lift, street heat upper/lower intake, mac under drive pulleys, shorty headers, h-pipe, 3" cats, and other mods that does not effect the idle. this mustang is a gt 5 speed with 69000 adult driven miles, in excellent condition. this car runs perfect but i have to set the idle up to 950 or 1000 rpm for it to idle smooth. i have used the idle air adjuster plate to idle at 800-850 and it starts going to 500 and up to1000 or so for a few times and then goes dead. i would like for it to idle smooth with out hunting up and down at 750 or 800 rpm. please give me detailed info. i know this is long but i am trying to give all the needed info. thank you all for your time on this.

RE: idle
mine did the same thing until yesterday when i took the fenderwell cai out. i just bolted the air filter onto the mass air flow sensor and it stoped doing that completely...i got this advice from a local performance shop that deals with alot of fox mustangs. they said that that 90 degree bend right before the sensor creats turbulance and the sensor is thrown off. mine did the same thing before i did this. it hunted for a while and couldnt idle quite right. try that and see how it runs...it cant hurt to try

RE: idle
how did you check for leaks, because you need to use carb cleaner and spray all around the vacuum hoses and the upper to lower intake and listen for the idle to jump or fluctuate, if that doesnt get you anywhere check out this sight

these web sights will help you, also i was going through a summit catalogue and under the mass air meters it said you must order one calibrated for cold air if you use cold air induction so that maybe what the other guys problem was but since you continued to have the problem after eliminating the elbow go through the steps on these websights and u should be just fine
