Default 1987 mustang gt won't start

I'm looking at getting an 87 gt that had a motor put in from an 89 gt and I was told that after the install before any of the accesories where hooked upunder the hood the car started but it was just sputtering and then quit and after they installed the accesories the car doesn't want to start at all it turns over, i am wondering if they might have forgotten to change the computer from 87 to the 89 since the 87 is speed density and the 89 is mass air flow? need helpto help me decide if i will get this gt

That's almost impossible to diag. from here. At least you know that the engine turns over. Could be timing, faulty ignition, fuel (unlikely), computer. I mean, anything is possible....

mass air is just an externality being a 89 long block motor it shouldn't mater that shouldn't be the cause of a no start.....you'll have to go back to basics....ie....check spark and check for fuel pressure and go from there....if dizzy was out check timing also... could be many things hard to diagnosis where all the pecker tracks are without looking at it in person.[&:]

take a good look at your timing/firing order and test your coil souds like a weak or no spark issue also check the ignition modual on the side of the dizzy it grounds through the distributor itself. being alum. it often gets corroded clean both sides and use dielectric grease or just replace for bout 30$ ive had realy bad luck with these things

How much are they asking for it? It could be that they could not figure it out and probably made thinks worse by guessing. I would not pay very much for someone else's headache. If they cant get the car to run, then just offer to pay what the car minus engine is worth. You might get lucky and get it for cheap.
