So im finally blown
Well i started my car and it idles rough at 39 psi, on the fpr, it wanted to die so i bumped it up to about 44 psi (btw this is all with the vacum unhooked) and it idles good and when i give it some throttle the rpms come up normal but when i release the throttle they drop down to like 300rpms and then a bad serge.... so thats pretty much where im at now ill name my mods with my set up so maybe i can get some feedback
Novi 1000 base form
30# ford racing injectors
75 mm pmas for 30# injectors
255 lph walbro fuel pump
stock internals and intakes
full exhaust catless
kirban adjustable fpr
and i think thats pretty much it
what do you think is going on with my car ? do i need to bump my timing or retard it what should my pressure really be set at with my mods
i cant get a tune til oct 16 so i just need to make it run good enough to drive a couple miles towork until i can get a tune so no wot for me
i didnt a search and everyones set up is a lil different so i want to see what you guys have to see
thank you Bib90lx(lou)

definitly drop your timing back.
Have you reset your computer?
Does that kit have a BPV?

what for? even at 8* timing he'll still blow the motor under boost. you cant tune a motor for boost with base timing. has to be done by reprogramming the computer and adjusting total timing

If you bump it back to 8, the computer still assumes you have 10 and adds 20,m so you end up with 28 degrees instead of 30 (just as an example.)
Of course, that's a crappy way to do it because you end up dropping everything down to match the "weakest link" so to speak. If you start to hear detonation around 5000 RPM, then you usualyl turn back the distributor to reduce the base timing. So even though there was no pinging at 4500 RPM or less, you still retarded the timing for those levels. If you get a tune instead, you can go to the tables and adjust it on an individual basis.
Of course, it's a bit more complicated than that, but that's the very basics. So in the end, if he retards the base timing, then it will affect his timing globally.

Base timing on a supercharged car is 10* leave it there until you get it tuned.

i know its physically possible to tune a motor with base timing but that sure as hell wont result in the best performance. and if his motor wont idle with 10* on the base, taking timing out wont help the problem
