that won't add power unless you have raised the compression ratio, are supercharged, nitroused or have other power adders. high octane gas actually burns slower.
Who told you that? That is a very untrue statment.. Higher octane burns MUCH MUCH more efficiently than lower octane gas, even if you don't have your timing bumped, but bumping your timing will also help with performance, and better fuel burn ability. If the fuel burned slower, high performance vehicles such as race cars, motorcycles, etc. would not use them as they need the most efficient burn possible.

If higher octane burned slower, everyone would be buying 87 Octane at the pump. Usually throwing in a higer octane provides noticeably smoother acceleration. I only run 89-91 in my car. Good luck with your mods.

Not sure about removing the screen in the mass air meter, I was told by a mechanic that the screen "straightens" out the air and directs the air into the little sensor hole so the computer knows exactly how to mix the fuel. He may have been high (his real name is actually Charlie Brow) but I never took mine out.

I've read up on this many times in the past due to the exact same argument, & I must say you have been misinformed. fordguy17 is right. Higher octane gas burns slower & cooler. The only advantage to a higher octane is IF and ONLY IF your engine is designed to take advantage of the slower combustion because of high compression and/or advanced ignition timing, which would be typical of high-performance engines. Running higher octane than what you usually to run can hurt your performance if you leave everything the way it was when you ran lower octane.

Oh & btw 118 octane burns the eyes when you have to stop @ stoplights. [sm=boohoo.gif]

I personaly think bumping the timing to12*-14* is better than a CAI or Pullies.
