Air Conditioner problems

Air Conditioner problems
I have a 89 lx and everytime I turn the AC on the car has a rough Idle and sometimes it cuts off. I thought maybe its robbing the power but I dont know what to to about it. Any help or suggestionswould be greatly appreciated.

you might have a short in the WOT cutout relay.
the AC system has a relay that shuts off the AC when you hit WOT(wide open throttle), when they short out they cause random problems.
the relay is located on the passenger side fender, near the MAF.

mine did that the first day i put my ac back on then the computer seemed to learn something and now it idles fine with air on. is you idle air valve in good shape? maybe it just needs cleaning.

Does your car idle fine w/out the A/c? Maybe turn the idle up some. Although unlikely, it could save you money. Otherwise I agree with mattdel. Mine went out when I had a/c and that took care of the problem
