Mustang motor help?!
hey all,im new to forums so excuse me if this is in the wrong place..
well i bought a 1995 GT mustang from a friend yesterday for 120.00
had to sell right then n there because of moving and lack of storage at new house..neways it needs a motor and im wondering what year motor 302 will drop right in with no probs..i have everything from the old motor as far as everything besides the block..do i need to get the same 1995 motor?or will a 1990 motor work or what? what year motors will work and what will i have to change? thanks all input is welcome

anything 87-95 will be a direct swap.
avoid 86 blocks b/c of the flattop pistons
most blocks that are older will swap in as well... just be careful that you dont get a NON HO block, or a non roller block

well im buying another full motor..but i was wondering if theres any certain year that my electrical or pcm wont work with etc?i just wanna buy a full motor stick it in and it work with all electrical hooked up

sorry to keep buggin but tryign to get this right so i dont go waste my cash..so if i bought a 1990 motor...i couldent just change the intake etc to the 95?the guy i bought it from said i can use just about any motor as long as i change a few things that came off the 95 motor..thanks alot for ur info tho

you need to strip the engine down to the block and heads. the only things that can still be attached are the oil pan, and heads... you'll even have to swap the valve covers.
NOTHING else will swap over

there is no reason to limit yourself to a 94-95 engine..
if you can get a 87-92 block... that would be the best way to go. You can swap all the parts from your exsiting engine for about $200 worth of QUALITY gaskets.
AND you'll have an engine with forged pistons
