supercharger on stock 5.0 ?
 

can you put a supercharger on a stock 5.0 something small .. or would you need to make other mods as well to support it ?

You will need some supporting mods to get the most out of the S/C like a bigger fuel pump, injectors, etc.....but it is OK to run on a stock bottom end....

I would do an H/C/I first....butI have seen that argued on thisforum ;)

255 fuel pump, 42lb or larger injectors, larger mass air flow sensor, fuel pressure regulator, and a good tune. you can run about 12lbs of boost on a stock motor w/ a tune and be ok. a buddy has a stock 95 vert w/ 4.10's and its fast and a blast to ride in!

not to steal the thread but i was wondering about this too...I have a 255 pump, fpr, can get 42lb injectors but i have a SD car. What to do then, MAF conversion or go straight to the tune?

itall depends on how much you want out of it. Many superchargers that come in a 5-6 psi kit use the stock MAF, injectors and pump but use a FMU as a bandaid for the poor fuel system. If thats what you want then youll have no problem, but you wont be happy with 5-6 psi, you will be at first but youll want more within a couple months then its time to upgrade everything

if you put a sc on a stock mustang boosting 5or6 lbs you will have about the same HP i have (HP in sig) with IRON gt40 and a e303. take 1000 bucks (at most) for a complete iron gt40 h,ci swap then buy a 2000 vortec sc and swap pullies to boost 10lbs and 30 lbs injecors. you will then probably see about 310 at the wheels for around 3k. yehaw!

ps. with all that ^ good luck going anywhere with stock trak loc, poor controll arms and no sub frames. btw you prolly need a new clutch soon after a few races with 310Hp. then comes suspention + drag tires. i have known two people that have completely and literaly torn apart 2nd gear in the t5, now new tranny. now your into it by about 6k in mods, welcome to every mustangers problem: too many mods, not enough money. hahaha

normally you gain about 8-12 hp for every pound of boost. also it depends on the weather conditionor if you have aintercooler or not. however, you can run a supercharger on a stock motor with very little boost, but you would do so much better with the upgrades listed above.

how many miles do u have on ur mustang? dont want to SC and old worn out engine

i have 30 k original ... im still just looking at my options im not looking for any thing crazy . it will be a weekend driver .. i dont go to the track so im not looking for a race car
