Vibration/clunking when decelerating

RE: Vibration/clunking when decelerating
Well they did drive it after working on it so if the problem went away like it seemed to they probably would never have noticed anything weird.

who knows.
if the driveshaft was loose, they woulda known when removing the bolts, and if the ujoints were bad, they wouldn't have replaced them on their own.

check the harmonic balancer?
edit for my ignorance, i forgot its a drivetrain clunk.
i'd be looking for loose control arm bolts, probably the axle mounting spot.

RE: Vibration/clunking when decelerating
sounds to me like you have an internal rear end issue with pinion pre-load or backlash.
unbolt the driveshaft and SLOWLY turn the pinion side to side.... if it has ANY play in it your gonna be looking at a rear end tear down

Sounds like it could be the pinion gear. Grab the driveshaft in the rear next to pinion gear and see it there is any play, it could be something as simple as needing to tighten your pinion bolt. After i changed the gears in one of my mustangs it did the same thing. I could push and pull the ds back and forth. When i had pressure on it, like accelerating, i did not notice it, but when i took that pressure off, de-accelerating, the noise would be there.

Mine was doing the same thing the rearend bushings were wore slam out and the rear was moving around and when I came to a stop the sway bar would hit the rear end housing clunk clunk ??????

Ill check when I get a chance- Ive been busy lately and havent been able to unbolt the driveshaft, etc.

If its screwed up Im buying a good differential and new gears.

yea i was gonna replace my u joints last night. but i got the car up and turned the driveshaft (the parking brake was on, car in neutral) and it turned maybe 1/4 rotation so im thinkin my gears or carrier are shot. it makes a clicking noise sometimes and it doesnt go posi. i need a rear if anyone has one. i want something built,im gonna look into a strange or dts.
