Getting computer out???
ok, so i was working on starting my mass air conversion, and i removed the passenger side kick panel. i see where the computer is, but i'm having a hard time getting to where i need to unscrew the holder piece because there is so much crap in the way. there is this big black box thing up under the glove box that is in the way, and because of the tight space that the computer is in, i have no clue as to how i'm supposed to cut a hole in the rubber grommet that's in the firewall.
can anyone help me out when it comes to getting to this computer the easy way, and if there is anything that i can move to make it easier???
and yes i've looked at the tech article and the link to stangnet

RE: Getting computer out???
There should be a bolt holding the plastic piece. I don't remember if it's on the bottom or on the side (by the door). Once that's out, you should be able to pull the plastic piece out far enough to pull the computer out. Pull it out downwards towards the floor. If you have to, move some of the wires away. It's a tight squeeze, but you should be able to get it. Once it's out you need a 10mm socket to remove the harness out of the computer.
As far as running the wires through the grommet, good luck
I tried and it didn't work out so well. I ended up drilling a new hole (w/ a new grommet of course).

RE: Getting computer out???
There really shouldnt be anything to it. Just unbolt the bottom of the plastic frame that's holding it in place. Then pull th bottom away and slide the computer right out th bottom. That's seriously all there is too it. The plastic will flex enough for you to get it out. As stated above, it will be a tight fit, but it will slide right out of the bottom towards the floor. I've had to do it several times. If I can get it in and out with a big *** Tweecer attached to teh J3 port on top, then you should have no problems with a stock computer, lol.
