Default 14*timing vs. 16*-or more...

Would your car make more power if the timing was higher than 14*, why I ask is I run 91 octane and I have the timing at 13* Alot of people say I could possible run 16* and make more power? Also my car doesnt ping or detonate with the timing that high. Should I leave it or turn it down? What would make more power.

as a rule more timing makes more power. there is a point where thats not true. higer octane is required with more timing. you can try 14* if you want and if that feels better try 15* and go at it like that untill you feel the car loose power or start to ping

to much timing is bad. my head gasket suffered from that. each car responds differently. some like 12 some like 14 some like 15 not all cars are the same so you cant just set it there, well you could but best way is to drive it and see how it respones. also more timing helps low end but to much is bad for top end

there is alot of ways to help to increase timing...but let me explain 1 thing is 2-4 hp worth $200.00-400 ? that's what it will cost per year to go from 89 to your 91. going to a 180 stat will let you get another 1-2 degrees and still use 89..I run 15 degrees on my 89 stang with 89 gas. 375 hp should be easy to get from 89 gas

Unless you're racing it 24/7...stick with 87 or 89... you won't benifit from it unless you get more compression.
