c4/c5 vaccum questions
i currently have a c5 from a 83 v6 in my car from the stock setup on this car. Can anyone tell me where the best place to hook up the vaccum line on the passenger side of the tranny? Also, what is it and how do I know if its bad. If I remember correctly tranny fluid leaked out of it at one point while being moved around my garage (prolly a good indication of being bad) and I'm pretty sure its not supposed to do that.
I was in the process of getting this car back on the road before I was sent over here to Iraq and before I left I couldnt move anywhere in any of the drive gears or reverse. That is probably because its not completly full of fluid yet because I didnt get the time to finish. It did work before I pulled the v6 out of the car about 4 years ago. Please, someone give me some info, I really trying to get this thing moving again. Thanks

RE: c4/c5 vaccum questions
The part you speak of is called a vacumn modulator.
IF they fail, trans fluid will be drawn into the intake manifold making the car smoke and of course, trans fluid getting low all the time.
They are a service/tune-up part so just get to a NAPA store or someplace and get a new one.
I would run quality vacumn line dieretly to the intake manifold.
Without good source of vacumn, trans will not shift right.......

remember when you remove the modulator chances are your gonna get wet with trans fluid, and there is a pin about the size of a clothes hanger that will come out. DO NOT LOOSE THIS. it needs to go back in with your new modulator.
other than that its a piece of cake, there are different modulators based on what year trans you have and they are identified by a stripe painted on them yellow and green are two colors that come to mind. make sure your replacement is the same one or you'll have weird shift points.
lastly, they are adjustable with a small flathead screwdriver you can stick inside of the vacuum port. i forget which way does what, but it changes your 1-2 shift IIRC
