Default milling da heads?

well i got down to the bare bones with my motor and im wondering what is stock compression for a 88 5.0 ho? when milling heads what would be enough to gain some compression? will i have to mill the intake also? and about how much does it coast?

stock compression is around 8.8-9:1 but its going to vary for every car as not all combustion chambers are the same size. If you take the chambers down to about 60cc it will be closer to 9.5 like gt-40ps but taking e7s that low will be usless.

i wish that was in the buget but i just spent 900$ for intake carb and cam so im a lil short on the cash! i figured id port match the intakes/smooth the runners and polish the combustion cambers and well im there i wonder if milling is worth it?

If it's something you can do that won't cost you anything, go for it. I used my Dremel to port match and do some light porting to mine, but I wouldn't have paid for it....not on E7's. GT40's or P's will net you more power, so would be worth some investment. But, by the time you invest in a P&P job, you might could have a used set of A1 heads; which will flow better in most cases.

if this is just a short term thing i would get the heads milled to up the cr like you were talking about. If i remember correctly every point of compression is worth 10-15hp

thanks for the info i decided im going to just look for a set of gt40 heads if anyone has them for around 200 in new york let me know!
